Four years after their debut EP Extended Play I—a release that quickly sold out across record stores—the band now present their long-awaited first full-length album, Long Play I. Comprising nine tracks, the album was entirely self-recorded and self-mixed, built upon a consistent DIY ethos. In doing so, it establishes a sound distinctly their own, standing at a clear remove from the mainstream. At the core of the project, songwriter Takujiro Sadae draws from the lineage of ’90s post-hardcore and alternative rock—particularly bands orbiting Hoover, as well as early 90 Day Men, Shotmaker, and Four Hundred Years. What matters, however, is not the act of reference itself. Rather, it is the commitment to fully re-engage with what those bands once proposed—this time, within the present moment.
